Quick Tip Tuesday: Making Flower" Fluff"

Good Morning.  Welcome back to Quick Tip Tuesday.

I was looking for ideas on YouTube and found this one by Holly Young.  I tried it and it worked!
That's always a good thing, right?
So, here's a way to make your own flower "fluff" quite inexpensively.
I purchased a package of styrofoam balls at the Dollar Store and used my Ranger Alcohol Inks - although you can use re-inkers as well.
Get out a piece of wax paper and rub two styrofoam balls together.  You'll get a pile of styrofoam shavings.  Left plain, this could be used for snow.  But, if you want colored fluff, place several drops of ink on the wax paper and use a popsicle stick to mix the shavings into the ink.  Add more ink if you want a darker color.  Allow the fluff to dry and then place in a container or baggie.  To adhere the fluff, apply glue to your project then add the fluff and press slightly then let dry.
There you go, easy peasy.

Hugs and Happy Crafting,
Larelyn

  1. This is great. I have to mail order most of my craft supplies and the shipping gets ridiculous, so anytime I can make a decent substitution myself it's a good thing! Thank you!

  3. Larelyn, this is a fantastic tip! I have always loved the look of this "fluff" and wondered how it was made. Thanks for sharing this, I'm really going to have to give this a try. I'm thinking it will also be a fun project for my granddaughter who would enjoy making piles of fun-colored "fluff"!
