Quick Tip Tuesday

Good morning everyone! It's Angie from Angie's Paper Passion with a couple of Quick Tips today about making cards and matching envelopes! I’ve also included a great tip about cutting cards and their matching envelopes on your Cricut so that they are sized perfectly together.

First, here a little chart that I found from PC that has the most common card size dimensions and the matching envelope sizes:

With this chart handy, you can tell at a glance what card size fits into each envelope size!

Now, if you happen to own the Martha Stewart scoring board then you're in luck. This scoring board has a chart included that tells you what size paper to start with and where to fold and score for standard sized cards and gatefold cards. There is also a tool included to let you make your own envelopes for regular cards or dimensional cards in the size you need. It takes all of the guess work out and makes it easy to just have fun creating your cards and their envelopes.

What about cutting cards with your favorite Cricut cartridges that have matching envelopes? There are many carts that have this option - Wild Card 1 and 2, Everyday Pop-Up Cards, and Just Because Cards are just a few. There are some carts that have cards and matching envelopes ‘hidden’ away. There are some on Cindy Loo, CTMH Artiste, and even on Plantin Schoolbook. But are you having problems after cutting out your card and then trying to cut out your envelope to fit that card? Well, all you need to do is just flip the steps around. To get my cards and envelopes to fit perfectly with each other, I always cut out my matching envelope first - with the Fit-to-Page feature turned on. After I hit the CUT button, I watch the screen on my Expression - it will say Calculating and then lets me know the Fit-to-Page size that it will cut the envelope out at. I make a note of that size and, with the Fit-to-Page feature turned off, I then make my card and its layers at the exact size that my Expression used to cut the envelope by using the Size Dial. Now you'll have a card and its matching envelope fit together perfectly!

With so many card-giving holidays coming up, I hope this helps you create those beautiful cards with ease!

Until next time, Happy Crafting!
